32nd Scholarship Awards

Due to the current pandemic that we are all experiencing, the 32nd Annual Charles A. Melton Scholarship Reception has been postponed as an in-personal gathering for 2020.

During the scholarship reception, we congratulate and award deserving college students from local church, civic, social, and educational institutions. While we are unable to meet as a community this year to congratulate them, there are still students currently in college that need your financial assistance.

The Charles A. Melton Scholarship reception was created by Tyrone Richardson and Alice M. Thomas. Tyrone, a college student at the time, approached Mrs. Thomas, a caseworker at Henderson High School and board member at the then-named West Chester Community Center, about creating an event to recognize not just recent high school graduates, but also students that continue to endure the rigors of college as sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Many students have benefitted from Tyrone’s insight, and as we honor his legacy thirty-two years later, we are thankful for his service to the Melton Center as a board member and as a friend to the entire West Chester Community.

Congrats to all of our 2020 scholarship recipients!

Thank you for your continued support, and we hope to see all of you in person in 2021!
